Operating Guide for PAKCOOL® Thermally Conductive Grease

Application Process
1. Preparation and Storage Before Use:
Thermally conductive grease can be stored at room temperature for approximately 12 months. If oil separation occurs during storage, it can be stirred well before use. For cartridge-packaged products, which cannot be stirred, store them horizontally and use within one month, not exceeding three months. Storing at low temperatures (below 0°C) helps mitigate oil separation. Depending on the size of the cartridge, warming the product to 25°C in the intended use environment for 2-8 hours or more before use is sufficient.

2. Application Method and Process:
Thermally conductive grease is used for filling very thin gaps between heating surfaces and cooling surfaces. Before dispensing, check both interfaces for impurities such as dust to ensure optimal thermal conductivity and adhesion. Surfaces can be cleaned with alcohol to remove dust.

Apply the grease manually or using an automatic dispenser (with air or piston pressure ≤0.6 MPa) onto the interface. Control the amount of grease dispensed by setting the dispensing pressure and time. The amount of grease should be approximately 1 to 1.5 times the theoretical value calculated based on the contact surface size, gap thickness, and grease density. Aim to apply the thinnest layer possible to achieve the best thermal conductivity. After dispensing, press and adhere the cooling surface (or heating surface) together, ensuring that all bonding surfaces make contact with the grease. Finally, compress and secure the device.
3. Unused Products:
For unused canned products, simply cover the can with the lid and store at room temperature. For cartridge products used in automatic dispensing machines, it is recommended to remove the cartridge from the machine and tightly secure the outlet cap for storage. If it is necessary to leave the cartridge in the dispensing machine, release any air pressure or piston pressure after removal. It is advisable to use these products as soon as possible.

Precautions
  • 1. If the material of the device to be coated has high oil absorption, it can cause the adhesive to thicken and dry out significantly. Therefore, the surface of the device should be treated to make it non-absorbent, or coated with our single-component adhesive to prevent oil absorption. The non-absorbency of the device material can generally be confirmed if there is no significant change in the state of the adhesive after being applied at room temperature for 24 hours.
  • 2. For canned products, if there is oil separation visible on the surface before use, it should be stirred well before application.
  • 3. Cartridge products, which cannot be stirred, should be used as soon as possible. Storing these products at low temperatures can enhance their storage stability. Before use, simply warm the products to room temperature.

Syringe Dispensing Process

Screen Printing Process

The material used for screen meshes is typically nylon. The thickness of the coating applied during the screen printing process is related to the mesh count of the screen. A lower mesh count means a larger diameter of the mesh openings, which results in a thicker coating under the same printing conditions. The table below illustrates how different mesh counts correspond to different coating thicknesses:

Mesh Count Mesh Thickness (mm) Coating Thickness (mm)
60 0.21 0.135~0.145
80 0.20 0.12~0.15
110 0.15 0.09~0.10
