PAKCOOL® Low-Density Thermally Conductive Encapsulant Facilitates Lightweighting in New Energy Vehicles

The PAKCOOL® TPC-213-08-DM series of thermally conductive encapsulant is a specially designed product with reduced density of 1.55g/cm³ and guaranteed thermal conductivity of 0.9W/m*K, which is suitable for thermal potting applications in products with strict weight requirements.

According to statistics, the battery pack in a typical family-oriented new energy vehicle weighs approximately 150-400kg, with about 20 to 50kg of silicone-based thermal potting materials. The density of commonly used thermally conductive potting materials in EV battery pack is about 1.8 to 2.2g/cm³, with the thermal conductivities of 0.4-0.8W/m*K, flame retardant of UL94 V-0 or V-1 and low viscosity for flow-flat.

By reducing the density to 1.6g/cm³ or less, TPC-21-08-DM can reduce the total weight of potting materials by 10-30% for same dimension, and for a 50kg weightit is amount of 5-15kg reduction. This weight reduction is of significant importance in the context of lightweighting for automobiles.
